My 1st Day CNY Event – ECLIPSE !!!!!

Finally, I’m back to KL….

Here is what I was busy with during 1st day of Chinese New Year.

~~~ ECLIPSE !!!~~~

My mom and I was looking forward to this event. About 4.30 pm on 26th Jan, I grabbed my solar shades and ran out of my house.

The weather was BEAUTIFUL!!! Sunny and no clouds blocking our view. The sun still looked INTACT. We knew, the show is gonna start.

I was wondering if I could take pictures using my digicam+the solar shade as FILTER… Haha, what a dummy way to DIY!

Exactly 4.32 pm, I went out again. The moon started her 1st contact with the sun. I called my mom and she ran out immediately from kitchen.

Slowly, the moon moved closer and block more of the sun…

More…

I called my neighbour’s kids and let them looked through using my solar shades… They know nothing about solar eclipse. But they were having fun! Even their parents enjoy the VIEW!

About 5.50 pm, it was the highest percentage of the eclipse. Around 80% of the sun blocked by the moon. Even at this point, the sky looked bright as usual… Many people didn’t even noticed/feel the solar eclipse was taking place.

I couldn’t get a nice picture… As my camera is not PROFESSIONAL enough to do the job. Please check out My Dark Sky and CARI forum for more nice pictures… much more better and DECENT compare to mine.

My mom and I stood in front of my house for quite a long time, looking at the sun and be amazed of how beautiful the eclipse was… but the cloud soon covered up the sky and blocked our view.

However, it was indeed a wonderful mother-and-daughter moment!

My Astro-dream

I love astronomy… I used to spend a lot of time looking at , constellation charts and reading astro-magazine.

My was sooooooo crazy until I influence my mom to be as crazy as I am. My mom and I even stay up whole nite to catch meteor shower.

I used to dream of study Astronomy. But some of my friends feel sceptical about it. You know, in Malaysia what prospects are there for an astronomer, with our one and only Malaysian “space tourist” playing monkey tricks in the space?

In the end, I choose to study BIOCHEMISTRY. However, I did take an extra subject of ASTRONOMY in university and I got an ‘A’ for that.

Recently, I came across this article on internet:

There’s a new group on Facebook that is pretty fun. It’s called “You Know You’re An Astronomer When…” and they are putting together a great list of things which might indicate that you’re an astronomer: one of those hardy souls willing withstand freezing temperatures just to catch a glimpse of the night sky. The first few are quite telling:

1. You see a bright star and know that it’s actually Mars. (YES)

2. You know the names of specific craters on the Moon. (NO)

3. You know the significance of the phrase “Oh Be A Fine Guy/Girl, Kiss Me” or as we knew it in my high school astronomy class… “Oh Boy, A Fat Girl Kicked Me”. (YES)

And then there is my favorite:

4. You know every line to the movie Apollo 13, and have possibly read the book. (That one really gives me away!) (Hmm… Can’t remember the movie well…)

The list goes on, and people are adding to the directory of key indicators all the time. Here’s more…

5. You have a personal vendetta against the weatherman. (Well, my brother is a weatherman, so I have to be careful here!) (NOT REALLY)

6. You know that Olympus Mons is the tallest peak in the solar system and which planet it’s on. (CAN’T REMEMBER…)

(Here’s a perhaps controversial one:)
12. You know that Pluto really isn’t a planet and shouldn’t have been considered one to start –as sad as it may be. (Yup… Quite sad when I heard the news that they disqualified Pluto as a planet.)

19. You can pronounce Betelgeuse, Uranus, Charon, and Cassiopeia at least two different ways each. (???)

21. Someone casually wonders aloud how many planets out there might be able to support life you immediately think of the Drake equation. (Well… no one ask me that before)

28. You have Astronomy podcasts on your ipod. (Yay! love that too! But I don’t have an iPOD… :p)

This is an open group on Facebook, so even if you aren’t part of this social networking website, you should be able to check out the list, which is expanding all the time. Perhaps UT readers have some ideas?

After answering all the questions above…

I guess…. I better just concentrate to be a BIOLOGIST instead of an astronomer….

唱国歌时被拘捕，21人被控非法集

去年11月9日参与纪念公平与干净选举联盟“黄潮日”一周年烛光会兼反对内安法令集会，而遭警方镇压扣留的21名人士，今日正式被控上八打灵再也地庭，罪名是非法集会与违抗警方的解散命令。

第一项控状指他们在2008年11月9日晚上9点至10点10分，在八打灵市议会广场参与一项非法集会，触犯警察法令第27(5)(a)条文。若罪名成立可在相同法令第27(8)条文下，罚款2000至1万令吉或监禁不超过1年。

第二项控状指他们在2008年11月9日晚上9点50分至10点10分，作为一名参与非法集会的人士，违抗警方的指示解散，触犯警察法令第27(4)条文。若罪名成立可在相同法令第27(8)条文，罚款2千令吉至1万令吉或监禁不超过1年。

法官也宣布此案定在3月10日过堂。

- 当今大马， 23/01/2009 -

早上8点，我们就预先聚集在八打灵再也地庭附近的嘛嘛档。大家难得有机会一起喝早茶，所以早餐的小聚会非常热闹。。。当中RPK突然问：我们那么多人在这里喝茶，会不会也被控“非法聚会”？

谢谢DelCapo帮我们结帐。

早上9点。我们喝完早茶，就聚集在法庭外等待。

其中一位被控告的 Father Paulino。

大家不分种族，肤色，宗教信仰，一起到法庭给23位英雄精神上（还有金钱上）的支持。

9点15分左右。大家进入法庭内。由于被告有20多人，再加上他们的家人等等。小小的法庭根本挤不下那么多人。我们只好在法庭建筑物一旁的亭子等待。

亭子很热。。。大家都汗流浃背。漫漫数小时的等待，谢谢行动党提供的矿泉水。 到后来，还有一箱柑呢！

早上11点多，突然有传闻说被告必须要缴付5000令吉的保释金。把我们吓了一大跳！我们知道所有被告都有准备一些钱，我们还是有筹募一些，以防万一。可是一个人5000令吉？！？ 后来，大家终于松了一口气。。。保释金被定在每人1千5百令吉。

除此之外，在等待的两个小时里，大家还发现了法庭的厕所，真的是 KANASAI 咯！！！厕所破烂不堪，马桶也破了。没有水供，马桶里还有一陀大便！！！

一如平日我们的聚会。。。SB 叔叔和 SB哥哥忙得很。我想，没有我们的日子，他们应该会失业。

Diversity of Species in Malaysia Rainforest

I came across this poster while surfing around blogs…

The diversity of species in the rainforest… I guess these “PRECIOUS” species roam around in many many forests in Sabah / Sarawak…

Actually, scientific proven that these are very DANGEROUS species (Yup. You’re right. Not ENDANGERED species) and need to be classified as BIOSAFETY LEVEL 5 organisms (Please refer to the link… Yup. There is no info about Biosafety Level 5 YET. Coz scientists are still unable to determine the chronic and long term effect of the infection caused by these species. But it is hypothesized that the chronic infection might lead to the end of human race).

These species are now creating serious endemic INFECTION to our BALAK in Sabah and Sarawak.

Please report to the authority if you see one.

谁是Jagjit Singh？

早前传出瓜登补选，记者收到RM300元贿赂金一事。

再一番争议后，大马反贪污委员会说不会针对此事进行任何调查。

No MACC probe into RM300 offer to reporters

A commission official said no investigation paper would be opened as the reporters who said they received the money at a media centre there could not identify the giver.

He also said it was unfair to accuse Umno or the Barisan Nasional of paying off the reporters, adding that claims by the opposition that Umno had bribed the voters were untrue.

报告说，由于受到300令吉的记者无法辨认谁把贿款交给他们，所以反贪污委员会无从调查。

报告还说，单单针对国阵贿赂记者是不公平的。因为毕竟回教党最终赢了补选。

我们再看看当事人（Merdeka Review 记者）的报案书：

不知道大家是否有看到报案书上清清楚楚地写着“Jagjit Singh”这几个字？

为什么我们大马口口声声说要向香港廉政公署看齐的反贪污调查委员会的“精英”们， 居然可以对这个关键名字视而不见？难道他们有“选择性”的近视眼？

究竟谁是Jagjit Singh？为什么不查个水落石出？把他就出来，查查他的背景，他来瓜登的目的。。。

连这点小事也做不到，反贪污委员会还是不要浪费资源向香港廉政公署看齐了。。。

还是早日收皮啦！

Multipurpose 的内安法令？

我真的不明白，究竟我们的当权者把内安法令当成是什么？

一时说需要用来对付恐怖分子；一时又说要用来保护人（记者陈云清）；一时又说要用来对付煽动种族情绪的人。。。原来，内安法令是如此神通广大的。。。而且还那么multi purpose 的呢！

想必当初英国殖民地政府想出这个玩艺儿时，一定没有想到我们大马政府果然Boleh， 把原本用来对付共产党的临时法令“发扬光大”，青出于蓝，而胜于蓝！！！

團結、文化、藝術及文物部長拿督斯里沙菲益阿達如今说，内安法令很好用，所以不需要另外设立种族关系法令。

沙非益：内阁一致同意，不设种族关系法令

國內的種族關係令人樂觀，各甘榜小鎮仍然可以看到種族互助、友愛團結的情景，而更重要的是，大馬獨立超過50年，各民族相互間已有深刻理解。

真的很好笑！！！其实，我们国家独立51年，要不是各族人民的和谐，我们当初也不会万众一心的争取独立。各族之间根本从来没有出现过问题！！！

我們已有足夠法令來維護種族和諧，如內安法令就是其中一項；也許內安法令不足完善，但我們或許可以予以適當的修正，但不是以新的法令來取代。

修改？马华当初也和沙先生一样，信誓旦旦的说要把问题带入内阁，修改内安法令。。。但是一转眼，首相就说，内安法令不会被修改，也不会废除吗？究竟这个国家，谁，说了算数？还是有些人，太天真，太傻了？

看看究竟是谁曾经举着马来剑，说要用来浴血华人的？看看究竟又是谁，说华人是寄居者？

我们没有喜欢挑起种族情绪的平民百姓。我们真正的问题，是有一群喜欢挑起种族情绪的政客！！！如果内安法令真的可以维护和谐，被扣留的就不该是无辜的百姓， 而应该是那些操控大权，却有唯恐天下不乱，自己赚不到政治利益的政客！

如果内安法令如此“好用”，那么为什么还要宪法，法律还有法庭？偷窃者，内安法令；贪污者，内安法令；杀人者，内安法令；飚车党，内安法令；黑社会，内安法令；私会党，内安法令；大耳窿，内安法令。。。反正也不需要什么证据嘛！

他表示，這項決定是政府參考國外如美國、英國與加拿大的種族關係後所取得的成果，而他已將這項決定告知之前提出這項建議者，表達政府希望以中庸之道處理種族關係，對方也欣然接受。

看看奥巴马。美国的第一位黑人总统。看看人家的气度：可以毫无保留的为了美国而邀请对手共商大计，并赞颂对手麦凯恩。多么有气度，多么文明。

再回头看看我们的政客。国会里头骂人叫喧字眼比任何国家的国会还更有“创意”。从国会大厦漏水，联想到女人每个月的生理期；从高级动物，摇身一变成了动物园里的动物。。。为了攻击敌对党派，忘了自己身在哪里；忘了自己受人民委托；忘了自己为人民服务。。。

在别人的国度，没有依据种族制造的政策，没有喜欢挑起种族情绪的政客，更没有内安法令来滥用。

其实，沙先生，难道您还不明白这个种族关系法令比较适用于你们政客身上吗？

沙先生，你的这句话，可以笑掉很多人的大牙。不要把大马拿来和美国，英国，加拿大比较。

因为我们真的没得比。

第15次反恶法聚会 – 警察恫言武力驱赶聚餐平民！！！

“敬”，尊敬也；“言”，说话，言语也。

“警”，由“敬”与“言”组成。所以带有“警察的言行受人尊敬”的意思。。。但是想来想去，还是觉得，这个意思不能用在我们大马的警察身上。

对于大马的“警”察，我有另外一个诠释:

“警”字两把口 – 他们说一，你不可以说二；他说你错，你就是错；他说你是一匹马，你绝对不是一头鹿。。。他们把赵高的掩盖事实，指鹿为马的精神，发挥得淋漓尽致。

瓜登补选，回教党的候选人胜出。瓜登选民利用手中的一票，狠狠地教训了国阵。最大的赢家，是敢于改变，唾弃腐败政策的人民。这个星期的反恶法聚会，除了一如往常的为恶法受害者点上蜡烛，默默祈祷以外，我们也打算办一个小小聚餐。这个聚餐，可以说是瓜登补选的庆功宴，也庆祝人民力量的获胜。但愿有朝一日，我们也可以凭着人民的力量，把恶法废除。

这天，出席者兴致勃勃。大家都很期待我们的人民部落客英雄们从瓜登赶回来。听说他们还带回来很多瓜登小吃。我们大家也分别准备了炒面，杯子蛋糕（cupcake），包装水，芦柑，蛋卷，糕饼。。。大家把食物排放在红色的布上，很有农历新年气氛。还有人提议大家待会儿可以唱唱新年歌。有趣的是，我们对着满地的食物开心不已，拼命拍照；就连SB 们，也一直拍着那些食物。Prof Robert 还对其中一位说“待会儿一起吃啊！”，那位SB 还笑笑的点点头。

芦柑。。。看起来黄澄澄的，充满农历新年的气氛。

好可爱的杯子蛋糕，Cupcakes！！！

SB 哥哥也没有闲下来，忙着拍照。。。

8点15 分左右，一辆深蓝色的马赛地客货车驶入MBPJ 市议厅范围。RPK, Marina, Gus, Haris, 还有 Zorro 等人终于到了！大家兴奋的冲上前去，和他们握手，拥抱。Haris 从车上拿出来好几袋子的竹筒饭 lemang，说是买回来“加菜”的。

5分钟后，大家才刚刚握完手，刚刚拥抱完。。。我一转身，就看到眼前不知什么时候已经站着一排警察。再望望四周，警方已经包围了大家。还有全副武装的联邦后备队呢！

我们的食物看起来不止可口，还很危险。。。所以警方派了一大群警员，全副武装“镇守”！！！

MBPJ 门外一辆辆的警车。

这时候，警察透过“大声公”来传话：

“Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, perhimpunan yang anda sertai ini adalah perhimpunan haram. Anda diminta bersurai sekarang juga. Sekiranya anda tidak bersurai, kami akan menyuraikan perhimpunan ini dengan kekerasan.”

有没有搞错？我们来这里吃东西也有错？原来，我们手上的汤匙和叉是很可怕的！！！

警方说，我们若不解散，他们就会以武力来驱散人群。。。。

武力驱散？？？

我们好好的在这里吃东西，竟然劳驾警方“武力驱散”？

我们何德何能，竟然吓得警方要用“武力驱散”？

我们杀人放火了吗？还是手持重型武器？

从来不管看什么戏，我们都会看到警方动用武力对付无恶不作的恐怖分子啦，打劫匪徒啦。。。但是利用“武力”对付一群正在聚餐的平民？？？这倒是第一次听到。大马警方的逻辑，传出去，肯定笑掉人家大牙啦！

我老妈子经常和一班朋友在公园里打太极。过年过节还是某人生日时，就会打完太极后在公园搞类似这样的聚餐。我看我要提醒他们记得申请准证。。。否则搞不好有一天吃到一半，会被警方“武力驱散”！

律师们，还有RPK 尝试上前和带头的警察理论。他们问警方人员，究竟是谁的指示。法律哪一项条文说有说不允许平民聚餐。这是市议会的范围，既然我们已经得到市议会的批准在这里办聚餐了，警方凭什么闯入“私人聚餐会”，要求解散？

“警”字两把口。。。有理说不清。警方的负责人根本完全不听众人的解释，一昧的拿着“大声公”重复那几句话“这是非法集会”。

我站在远处，身边的与会者都把头大摇特摇，无可奈何。警方不管我们得到谁的允许，只要没有经过警方的允许的，都不算允许。不禁令我纳闷，究竟警察是执行者？还是立法者？我们难道是个“警察国”，只有警察说的才算“法”？

市议员Richard 闻讯赶来。也尝试代表市议会方面和警方交涉。说已经获得市议会的允许。可是后来，根据目击者说，Richard 最终被数名警员“护送”离开市议会范围。

逼与无奈，大家于是把食物都搬到附近的嘛嘛档，在那里继续我们的聚餐。虽然之前的不愉快经验，但是大家很快的就不当一回事。

大家帮忙把lemang “摇”出来。

印度大哥摇身一变，成了芦柑代言人。

Pizza!!!!!

正当大家吃的高兴时，看到警察和一群交警过来，（不知是否为了故意为难我们）开罚单给那些停泊在嘛嘛档旁边的车辆。开完罚单，警方和交警就“驻守”在那里，顺便监视我们吃东西。还有SB 在嘛嘛档外面录影。据说，整条路已经被封锁，其他车辆一概不能进来。真可怜，我们吃得兴高采烈，他们却只能眼巴巴的看。

管他的。。。我们继续吃。。。

晚上10点多，大家开始收拾。由于约了人，所以我先行离开。

而警方呢？还仍然驻守在市议会大门口，舍不得离开。看，他们逛啊逛的，不知道有多闲呢？谁说警方缺少人手了？

大家还需要害怕什么回教国吗？警方人手多得几乎可以成立警察国了呢！

首先，看看这两段录影：

这是我们上个星期在MBPJ 的反恶法聚会的全程录影。与会者，当中有不少是每个星期准时“报到”的特别支部警察。他们从刚开始的拍照，到近日来的录影。。。我们聚会的一举一动，全都被他们录了下来。

我们究竟是否是暴民，他们心中有数。我们有多么友爱，他们也应该看在眼里。我们，只不过在履行我们身为大马公民所赋予的权力：在和平的情况，在得到场地主人允许的情况下。。。和平的交流，聚会。

警方闯进市议会范围，不管我们已经获得市议会允许。一句 “你们非法集会”，就抵消了一切法律程序。“非法集会”的定义，警方和宪法上的诠释，果然不一样。而且，全然是警方说了算。

我终于明白，什么是“官字两把口”！

他们说一，别人不能说二；他说你犯错，你就是犯了错；

他们是法官？他们是判官？

他们说你是一只马，你一定不可以是鹿！！！

警方究竟是依法办事，还是恐吓成分居多？他们若是“依法”，又是依照“谁”的法？联邦宪法？还是当权者的“法”？

An Appeal To The Police To Do The Right Thing

Let us all be reminded of the Rukun Negara, the de facto Malaysian pledge of allegiance.

You have always asked for the rakyat’s cooperation to be civic-minded. You said that the state of our community is the responsibility of its members. You applaud ordinary citizens who risk their lives nabbing snatch thieves and robbers, etc on the spot in your place.

Which side of the “law” are you on now? And whose “law” are you following? What if it were your parent, brother or sister under detention without trial? What would you do? Keep silent?

Every one of us has a role towards improving the state of our economic, social and political lives. Please support initiatives of groups that contribute to sustainable development and harmonious community development nationwide.

Let us all be reminded of the Rukun Negara, the de facto Malaysian pledge of allegiance.

We appeal to the Polis DiRaja Malaysia to be there at the Anti-ISA Vigils for the right reasons, i.e to provide security for the participants and to take this as an opportunity to get to know and bond with the rakyat at peaceful vigils. Alternatively, go catch the real crooks and mindless Mat Rempits out there.

Stand up and be counted in your own special way for the sake of all Malaysians and your children too. If we don’t care about the state of our country, it simply means we don’t care about ourselves.
